Host a House Party!
Most of us find it difficult to believe that there are those in our community who are hungry. By opening your home to a group of your friends and neighbors, you can help the Community FoodBank of New Jersey raise awareness about the issue of hunger in our backyard. A staff member will lead a discussion on what we are doing to combat hunger and poverty and refreshments, prepared by our Food Service Training Academy students, will be provided. If you would be interested in being a part of this important initiative, please contact Natalie Ottaiano, 908-355-3663, ext. 252. |
Raise Your Voice Against Hunger
Join friends of the FoodBank to commemorate Hunger Action Month in song. On Tuesday, September 23 from 6 pm to 8 pm, “Souls of Integrity” and other local choirs will be raising their voices against hunger. While listening, you and your family can do your part by participating in hands-on activities that will help get food to those in need. For more information, contact Larry Imboden at 908-355-3663, ext. 245 or at limboden@njfoodbank.org. |

- The official federal poverty level for a family of four in 2008 is $21,200 a year.
- Driven by a painful mix of layoffs and rising food and fuel prices, the number of Americans receiving food stamps is projected to reach 28 million in the coming year, the highest level since the aid program began in the 1960s.
