Award Winning South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble to Present ‘Sound of Music’ and More!
“Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.
Brown paper packages tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things.”
Even in turbulent time like these, music offers a renewal of joy and happiness. Celebrate the upcoming holiday season with the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble and Chorus at a pre-Thanksgiving concert, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16, at the Hess School Complex, Babcock Road, Mays Landing.
Highlights of the program will include selections from “The Sound of Music” and “Polar Express,” along with “America the Beautiful,” “Lincoln Portrait”and other classic music. A portion of the concert proceeds will benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble received the John Philip Sousa “Sudler Silver Scroll Award,” naming it the nation’s best community band for 2006. The prestigious award recognizes both outstanding quality of music and service to the community.

The ensemble performs under the baton of conductor Keith W. Hodgson and associate conductor Ron Poorman.
