In the last two years we've seen a 40% increase in need — forcing our distribution to skyrocket from 23 to 37 million pounds of food per year.
We helped feed more than 900,000 people in 2011 — with children and the elderly accounting for 55% of those who received food.
To meet rising demand, The Community FoodBank of New Jersey has launched a capital campaign to raise $15 million to help renovate and expand existing facilities along with updating existing fleets and warehouse assets.
David Tepper, the founder of Appaloosa Management, L.P., served as the driving force behind the campaign. Along with Mr. Tepper, Appaloosa Management, L.P. and the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Inc., set the pace for the campaign, inspiring many others to follow their lead. Today, more than $13.3 Million have been raised towards our goal of $15 Million.

As of July 1, we have raised $13.3 Million towards our goal of $15 Million! Thank you to the many individuals, corporations and foundations who have generously shown their support by making a pledge to the Campaign for the Community FoodBank of NJ. We hope you will partner with us as we move towards our goal and continue to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey distributed 37 million pounds of groceries in 2010. Because our food distribution has grown by more than 60 percent from 2008 to 2010, we need additional space, infrastructure improvements and an upgrade of our fleet and equipment. We are embarking on a capital campaign to raise the funds to meet these needs.
