Guidelines
We have developed these Cause-Related Marketing Guidelines to provide clear direction on expectations throughout any cause-related marketing relationship with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
A cause-related marketing relationship occurs when:
- an organization is promoting a product, event or service to the public;
- the product, event or service is promoted through media outlets; and
- the promotion will benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey must approve all cause-related marketing relationships between the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and any corporation/organization or donor.
- The amount of resources committed to the relationship by the Community FoodBank of New Jersey will be assessed on a case by case basis and will be in proportion to the donation provided by the corporation/organization.
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey cannot ‘endorse’ any product and/or service.
- We ask that you coordinate the time frame for the promotion with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in order to maximize potential and avoid conflict with other campaigns.
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey cannot provide internal mailing lists to third-party corporations/organizations.
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey reserves the right to terminate any cause-related marketing relationship at any time.
Criteria
As a general rule, organizations proposing an event for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey should:
- adhere to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey branding identity and standards;
- have a positive impact on the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s reputation;
- generate sufficient revenue to justify the commitment of requested Community FoodBank of New Jersey resources.
Representatives of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey may not approve a cause-related marketing relationship if:
- entering into a relationship constitutes a conflict of interest for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey;
- the effort is not aligned to support the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s mission;
- the Community FoodBank of New Jersey is required to provide up-front funding to support the cause marketing effort.
Expectations
Corporation/Organization Expectation
- The corporation/organization must submit the entire promotion description (see next page) to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey for final approval prior to the kick-off.
- All related promotional materials must be submitted to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey for approval.
- All donations must be made within 6 weeks of completion of the promotion.
- Promotional materials should disclose the per-unit amount going to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey Expectation
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey will assist with promotion, as appropriate.
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey will provide appropriate donor recognition.
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey will provide necessary language for promotional materials.
- The Community FoodBank of New Jersey will provide logos and artwork as appropriate.
